Tips to Treat Ingrown Toenails

  1. Wipe your instruments off with alcohol or betadine. Be sure to get the undersides of your nail clippers.
  2. pour 2 tbsp of povidone-iodine (Betadine) solution, into 3/4gal. warm water. Put your foot in the water and soak for 15 minutes.
  3. Dry your foot and then insert nail clippers under the nail border.
  4. Cut out the ingrown toenail at a slight angle. Try not to cut your skin - keep the bottom of the clipper as close to the bottom of the nail plate as possible.
  5. Wipe the area gently with a help of cotton swab soaked in alcohol or a betadine.
  6. Repeat the same procedure for a week or so ,or until soreness is gone
  7. After soaking, dry gently and apply an adhesive bandage and some antibiotic cream.
  8. while your toenail is healing, wear loose shoes as much as possible
  9. Avoid putting any pressure pushing against your toe.
